ADVENT-URE

the season of advent is always a journey and an adventure.

it is UNDERSTANDING christmas. we prepare for the celebration of the coming of christ who came more than two-thousand years ago.

it is a REALIZATION that he is the emmanuel, the god-who-is-with-us, present in the lives of people who accept him in their hearts. thus, a preparation for his coming in our lives through the sacraments and in the actual blessings and healings he showers upon us.

it is a hopeful EXPECTATION of his final coming. the christ who came will be the same christ who will come again in the end of time.

then, it will be forever christmas.

2010

it is both a movie and a documentary, this upheaval of the world.

blame the mayan calendar, soothsayers and nostradamus as culprits. will it be 2010? will it be the end of the world?

every beginning must have an end. so is the earth born million of years ago, it has to die. of course, we hasten its death by global warming, ozone depletion, unwarranted waste disposal, pollution and ecological degradation. the source of ecological garbage is moral garbage.

however, the world's end is not the signal of god's coming. nobody knows. we can only hope. he might even come before our lives come to an end today or tomorrow.

the call, then is to continue to live in the love of christ. after all, during the particular sunsets of our lives, our personal accomplishments would not matter a lot. what would simply matter is the clarity by which we love one another in faith.

many have admitted the fallacies about marriage.

they think it's a piece of paper. rightly so, then they can be crumpled and torn into shreds. in doing so, they tear the family apart.

marriage is a commitment that goes beyond "until death do us part".

in fact, it becomes the seed of the smallest christian community, that is the home.

its final realization will be in heaven.
