how you see life shapes your life, a book says. if you see life as a party, your emphasis would be having fun. if you see life as a battle, then like a warrior one should always keep in shape.
as a christian, it is not simply a matter of keeping shape but of being shaped by christ. thus, being like obedient sheep following the shepherd. the assurance is given by christ: "...they shall never perish. no one can take them out of my hand".
one should never then be afraid of the rod or the staff. they keep us in shape.
such is the essence of belonging to the lord's flock.
